DELUXE SHAGGY
SILK TOUCH
Tribal & Village Tribal carpets are small in size, woven in a very short period of 3 to 4 months and in the form of a rug and runner. The tribal looms are made horizontally, easy to dismantle and pack to be loaded on horses, camels and other load carrying animals, with speed and ease.

The rugs are thick and woven in natural, sharp and bright colours. The knots are generally Ghiordes and sometimes Senneh.

The nomads often prefer geometrical designs, which they themselves create. Evidence also is the use of heraldic emblems or tribal coats-of-arm and even motifs.
Bidjar

Bidjar/Bijar rugs are tightly woven, and highly prized for their thick but very tightly packed weft. Bidjar rugs are appreciated not only for their rich design and character but also for their strong, dense quality, hence, they are being called "Iron rug".

Bidjar rugs are mostly woven from wool on a cotton warp and weft. Their design is unique and not imitated by other rug making areas. They predominantly utilize the Turkish symmetrical knot as well as the Persian asymmetrical knot. The colors run the full spectrum of the color pallet.

A Bidjar is a very rugged and durable rug and is destined to become a treasured family heirloom passed on for generations.

Qashqai Gabbeh

Qashqai Gabbeh made by the Qashqai Tribe with very fine hand-spun wool and vegetable dye in Southern province of Fars around the famous city of Shiraz. This collection is an improved version of Gabbeh ( Persian Gabbeh ) with much finer weave and higher quality of wool and dye.

Esfahan (Isfahan)

Isfahan (Esfahan) is a city found in central Iran. This city has a rich history. Its reputation for rug
making dates back to the 16th century. Isfahan rugs are known for their very high quality and fine
design.

They are woven in wool or silk on a cotton or silk base. Historically known for their bold colours of blue and red, Isfahan rugs now use more subtle colours which makes them very popular worldwide. Common patterns are mostly symmetrical with a single medallion surrounded by curvilinear vines,
palmettos and floral motifs. Other designs are of the tree of life and are of Shah Abbas field.

Naein (Nain)

Naein is the name of a city in Iran, and the Naein Persian carpet takes on the same name.

Their design is of curvilinear vines with forked leaves and mainly floral patterns with a central medallion. They are precise, delicate and as they are very beautiful they are a favourite among collectors.

Excellent grades of wool and silk are used on foundations of fine cotton. Naeins all have the
distinct beautiful trademark of having the family name interwoven at the top of the carpet. Habibian
is the most reputable family in Naein.

Colours of Naeins are mostly beige and cream with blues. Nowadays it is possible to find carpets in
reds and green. Naeins are available in three levels - based on the number of knots per square inch.

Semnan
Tabriz

Tabriz is a city in Northern Iran and has been the most prolific in the carpet making industry for
hundreds of years.

Renowned for their exceptional quality, Tabriz rugs have a wool and/or silk pile on a cotton or silk foundation and normally have a high knot per square inch count.

Tabriz are typically known for having three designs: floral; geometric and fish design. A medallion is
usually present, but not always.

Silk Quum (Qum/Qoum)

The Holy city of Qum is found in northwest central Iran. Production of rugs did not begin here until the 1930s. Qum does not have any traditional designs of its own.

Most Qum carpets have curvilinear vines and floral designs. The design by the weaver incorporates designs from other Iranian carpets. Designs in Qum are based on vase, garden, hunting, floral, dome, tree-of-life, medallion or pictorial images.

They are renowned for their high quality and are usually 100% silk - basically silk on silk. Colours are
varied and it is possible nowadays to find almost any colour you are looking for.
